Getting Setup for Our Web Programming Unit
Part 1: Creating a CodeSandbox account ... you will need to have a gmail account before you can get started
- Go to https://codesandbox.io/
- To create an account, click the big purple button that says "Create a Sandbox, it's free!"
- From the popup window, click the bright blue "Sign In" link
- Sign in with an existing gmail account. If you don't have a gmail account, you will need to create one.
If you get confused, be sure to use the "Sample CodeSandBox" as a reference

Part 2: Creating Your First Sandbox

Part 3: To avoid a lot of typing with new pages - create a new page template
- Once you have created your account and logged in, select the HTML 5 Static template (big orange button)
- Up at the top, by the word "Drafts" change the name of your project to "Yourname Web Programming" (Ex. McKay Web Programming)
- In the head code, change the title from "Static Template" to "Yourname Web Programming"
- <title>Static Template</title> becomes <<title>Yourname Web Programming</title>
- In the body code section, change the message of the <h1> to read "Hello World!"

- To have the changes applied, save your work (Control S or Command S)
- The changes should appear in the preview window on the right side
Part 3: To avoid a lot of typing with new pages - create a new page template
- From your index.html page, select and copy all the code
- Press the new page icon to create a new file. Name the file startindex.html or something appropriate (starter.html, begin.html, newpage.html)
- Change the <h1> and <title> tags to something like "New Page"
- Save your Work
