- Starting the robot and control .... making them connect
- Basic driving
- Different controller settings - Left, right, split, dual - preference and why
- Driving forward, back, turning
- Using the claw - raise and lower
- Practice your skills at picking up objects and placing in box or stacking
- Competition
- Individual - 5 balls in basket, minimum of 3 cubes stacked
- Alliances - different ends - balls one point, cubes stacked 2 points in each (if cube in basket -1)
- Only cubes stacked actually count
- Intro to Vex VR
- Opening, naming, saving, importing
- Basic drive controls
- Create project that demonstrates your understanding of basic drive controls (can use loops if feel the need)
Week 2
- Robot
- 5 min - drive challenge
- Obstacle Course - Robo Rally
- Manual drive through course - timed
- follow path (straight and turns)
- draw around square and circle (hula hoop)
- transfer objects from one hoop to another
- point to point
- swerve / navigate through series of pylons
- with claw, pick up objects (beanbags / balls) and place in baskets and bean bag board (points)
- If time permits, drive in reverse
- Manual drive through course - timed
- Introduction to tablet
- Basic movements - even try some of the above or follow one of the smaller courses on the field
- Download and run
- Vex VR
- Import and show projects from last week that demonstrated understanding of basic drive controls
- Use of blocks and simple loops
