- Lisa Gelobter is a computer scientist who developed the animation used to create GIFs. She also worked on other pioneering internet technologies, including Shockwave, a multimedia platform for video games, and the streaming service Hulu.
- Valerie Thomas invented and patented the illusion transmitter in 1980. The invention transmits an optical illusion of a 3D image — technology NASA continues to use to this day.
- Marie Van Brittan Brown was a nurse who, in 1966, invented the first home security system along with her husband Albert Brown, an electronics technician.
