Volunteer Events - The event details are as follows:

Feb 4, 2023 - 7:30 am to 5:00 pm - Event (times may vary depending on volunteer assignment)
Feb 5, 2023 - 7:30 am to 6:00 pm - Event (times may vary depending on volunteer assignment)
Lunch and Snacks will be provided for full day volunteers.
How to sign up?
If you have a FIRST account, you can sign up to volunteer directly by logging into your account. If you are new to FIRST you will need to create an account here before proceeding through the following steps:
You will receive an email from your local event coordinator if you are assigned to a volunteer role.
Volunteer Positions and Roles: See below volunteer role titles, number of positions needed, and brief descriptions.
Practice Table Assistant (2, or could be 4 people for ½ day each)
Number needed: 4
Minimum Age Requirement: 13 years old
Description: Provides direction, assistance, information, and support to teams at practice tables in the Pit. Position manages the practice table schedule and oversight of field model pieces. Assist with practice table sign-up, answer questions from teams and guests, maintain practice table area in good order and ensure that all game pieces are left on the table. Volunteer must pay meticulous attention to detail and be aware of the rules of the game.
Referee (4) full day
Number needed: 4
Minimum Age Preferred: 17 yrs old
Description: Observes team robot game matches, identifies rule violations, assesses field for scoring of matches, and participates in deliberations regarding contested calls and official scores. Position works under the direction of the Head Referee. Requires advance training and intimate knowledge of current Robot Challenge Game rules. Plays a critical role in ensuring smooth flow of match play and maintaining the pace of the event. Embodies FLL core values while monitoring and promoting sage practices on and around the playing field.
Field Resetter (4) full day
Number needed: 4
Minimum Age Requirement: 13 yrs old
Description: Repairs and resets the playing fields after each match. Resetter plays a critical role in ensuring smooth flow of match play and maintaining pace of the event. Supervise the teams collecting their robot and attachments to assure that Field Setup pieces are not taken inadvertently. 2 ppl per table. Volunteer must be meticulous in setting up field correctly for the competing teams.
Head Queuer (1) full day
Number needed: 1
Minimum Age Preferred: 16 yrs old
Description: Oversees queuers and helps them manage team traffic to and from judging areas or robot matches. Queuers play a critical role in ensuring smooth flow of traffic and maintenance of overall event pace. May need to restrict access to competition area from unauthorized individuals. Communicates with Pit Runners and makes sure that the runners in the Pit are rounding up teams that are not in the queue, helps keep teams in order and ready to compete. This volunteer must possess strong leadership skills. Needed mid morning until end
Judging Queuer (2) morning only
Number needed: 2
Minimum Age Preferred: 14 yrs old
Description: Manages team traffic to and from the judging areas. Queuers play a critical role in ensuring smooth flow of traffic and maintenance of overall event pace. May need to restrict access to judging rooms from unauthorized individuals. Helps keep teams in order and ready to be seen by judges. This person should be very aware of the schedule, and needs to be able to keep track of more than one thing at a time. Needed morning only through judging interviews.
Game Queuers (4) all day
Number needed: 4
Minimum Age Preferred: 14 yrs old
Description: Find and direct teams to each judging room, or their robot matches. Queuers play a critical role in ensuring smooth flow of traffic and maintenance of overall event pace.
Photographer: (1) all day
Number needed: 1
Minimum Age Preferred: 14 yrs old
Description: Help capture the moment! Work with tournament leadership to develop a shot sheet. Ensure good quality images for social media.
Set-up (8-10) Friday Evening only - 5:00pm to 8:00pm (or earlier depending on when we finish)
Number needed: 10
Minimum Age Requirement: 13 yrs old
Description: Move tables, chairs, and other items, post signage, and do any other necessary tasks to set up for the event on Friday evening and minimal work on Saturday morning.
Clean up (8-10) Sunday afternoon only, 3:00 pm to 6:00pm
Number needed: 10
Minimum Age Requirement: 13 yrs old
Description: Light clean up on Saturday after the event in preparation for Sunday. Move tables, chairs, and other items to reset the school after the event on Sunday.
Floaters (4)
Number needed: 1
Minimum Age Requirement: 13 yrs
Description: Assist where needed. Help with set-up in the morning, cover other positions (e.g. Info Table or Queuers) for breaks. May take on other role if a volunteer is sick on the day of the event.

- Click the Volunteer Registration tab & choose ‘Volunteer at an Event’.
- Filter events by location/ program and select an event.(you will need to fill out your info for each event separately)
- Vancouver Qualifier 1 and/or
- Vancouver Qualifier 2
- Choose up to five roles and apply.
- Complete Consent and Release acknowledgments - make sure they are electronically signed by your parents (look for it in the drop down menu under your name at the top right corner of the dashboard). Parents will also need to sign in to FIRST to fill out Consent Forms.
